Zachary Ray's Story

On June 5, 2005, Zachary Ray Hansen was delivered by emergency C-Section. He was two month early weighing only 2 pounds 13 ounces, and he was perfect. He is my third Grandson. My first two Grandsons, Ryan Tyler and Brandon Hansen, were both stillborn. Zachary came into the world at the end of a very high-risk pregnancy. He remained in the Neo-Natal Nursery for 6 weeks. During the course of her pregnancy, my daughter Alisa was given every test known to modern medicine. It was discovered that she had a tumor growing in heart that would have ended her life by the end of 2005.

Because of the research and medical advancements that have been developed through the funding of t4he March of Dimes both Zachary and Alisa are here today and doing very well. Zachary will be 3 years old on June 5. He is walking, talking, and running. He counts to 10, knows his shapes and colors, and chats with me by phone. Alisa underwent open-heart surgery in August 2005. Her surgery was 100% successful. Mom and son are doing fine.
